Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd says the woman-focused dating app is embracing AI. When discussing the future of Bumble at Bloomberg Tech in San Francisco, Herd, who recently stepped down from being the app's CEO, says Bumble will use AI "to help create more healthy and equitable" dating experience. "You could, in the near future, be talking to your AI dating concierge and you could share your insecurities ... and then it could give you productive tips for communicating with other people," she says. The idea of using AI to help you flirt isn't new. Tools like YourMove.AI and Love Genius use AI to craft daters more intriguing dating bios and messages.

Nearly everyone, regardless of gender, who's dating is stressed about the associated costs. Although the majority of people are stressed about the cost of dating, they differ on how they think about who should pick up that first tab. Overall, 44% of people think the person who earns more should pay for the first date, Self found. The remaining fifth of respondents said whoever organized the date should be responsible for the bill. Though it was the least-popular response overall, etiquette expert Diane Gottsman says deferring to the person who organized the date may be the most reasonable approach.

As online dating became as easy as swiping a finger across your phone screen, the companies who own apps like Tinder and Bumble became Wall Street darlings. But about a decade later, those platforms are now struggling to live up to expectations, and investors have grown frustrated and eager for something new. Match Group and Bumble — which make up nearly the entire industry by market share — have lost more than $40 billion in market value since 2021. Even in an age when the apps are a staple on people’s smartphones, the two companies are laying off workers and reporting lackluster revenue growth. Both companies have recently brought on leaders who have vowed to experiment with new features, hoping to capture the growth investors crave.

It's introduced a fresh wave of young professionals who are shaking up the dating scene. But a new influx of transplants also creates divides among young professionals and locals. The rise of remote work has resulted in new waves of migration and, in turn, refreshed dating pools around the country. AdvertisementWhen it comes to the future of Midwest dating, “I hope this can change, but I think a lot of people in a lower tax bracket might just move elsewhere,” he said. Gone are the days of app dominance, especially as younger dates forsake online dating for in-person connections.

I read through all 274 responses to a questionnaire I put out about how politics affects the dating lives of Americans under 30, and I took note of the fact that quite a few respondents used economic terminology when describing their romantic experiences. The term “scarcity,” in particular, came up more than once as a factor in dating experiences. If you live in a smaller or more politically mixed environment, you can’t afford to be so choosy without severely restricting your dating pool. In Brooklyn, for example, registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans about eight to one. So for daters in my own liberal bubble, it doesn’t matter nearly as much that in the country overall, men are more likely to be conservative — a New Yorker is unlikely to be dating someone who currently lives in Alabama or Wyoming.

Sending a voice note in a conversation is 48% more likely to lead to a date, according to recent Hinge data. More than two-thirds, 65%, of daters believe hearing someone's voice helps them determine their interest. Leaving a voice note for someone you haven't met yet can feel awkward, though. Many of us cringe at the sound of our own voice, which can make it hard to know exactly how we are coming off to other people. If you feel uncomfortable leaving voice notes, here are some tips that can help you at least sound more congenial.

When I was in my late 30s, I started to date women 15 years younger than me. Even though people judged me, I found younger women more carefree and open to adventure. For starters, the younger women kept in better shape. Plus, a few of my close friends and their significant others seemed to have problems with me dating younger women. I eventually married a woman younger than meMy wife is eight years younger; she is a well-established doctor whom I met online.

When The League first entered the emerging dating app space in 2014, it was labeled "elitist." All of this, of course, makes The League harder to join than other dating apps such as Tinder or Bumble. Eight years since that post, and one year since the app was acquired by Match Group, Bradford maintains the app isn't elitist. It's less about what you've achieved and more about where you're going. Expensive dates, inflation, and loneliness are weighing on Gen Zers seeking romantic connections. AdvertisementAdvertisementBecause Gen Z grew up with Facebook, Instagram, and other social platforms, many 20-somethings have grown accustomed to instant connection. To that point, dozens of Gen Zers told Insider they're putting more effort into friendships and nonromantic social events to combat loneliness. Inflation hovered at 3.7% year over year in August, nearly double the 2% rate policymakers want, and it's weighing on Gen Z wallets. "Gen Z wants to find people in natural, organic contexts as friends first, and if something romantic happens, that's great," Lerner said.

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of Tinder, the swipe-based dating app whose mainstream success completely redefined the rules of romance. While early episodes of the podcast featured recorded sets from those live shows, it’s since evolved into a more intimate format. Starter episode: “Gearóid Farrelly”Although it lasted less than two years, this soulful, searching series about digital courtship feels as if it was around much longer. That’s in large part because it shape-shifted midway through its run when its host, Andrea Silenzi, went through a breakup. Opting to use her own situation as “a storytelling device,” Silenzi shares her confusion and heartbreak as she chronicles the indignities (and occasional joys) of app-based dating.

The popularity of therapy and even therapy-speak can also bring clarity to struggles people have been experiencing, oftentimes alone, for years. There is such an emphasis on the 'self-care' aspect of it that is actually making us more isolated and more alone.

Men are using AI tools like ChatGPT to improve their dating lives, an Attractiontruth study found. Some men said they used AI to generate their bios and craft personalized messages to their matches. Online dating can be tough, but AI might be making it a little bit easier, a new study suggests. Researchers at Attractiontruth, an AI dating coach, surveyed 1,371 men across the sexuality spectrum to see if they are using AI to enhance their dating profiles. In February, OkCupid used ChatGPT to generate matching-questions — like "Are you more of an introvert or extrovert" — that were later added to the platform, according to a company blog post.

The dating app experience is often void of one crucial thing: a date. If you've ever used Tinder, Bumble, Grindr or any other dating app, this probably doesn't surprise you. A common sequence of events is: you match, you message, they message, you message, they message, and on and on until one person just stops. For some reason, taking the date offline and in person just doesn't happen and every message dilutes any initial excitement you had about the match. They sign up for an app and their default is to not think about it that much and text people."
There are some antiquated dating norms that are more persistent than one might think. Perhaps even more surprising is that almost half, 47%, of Gen Z respondents subscribe to this belief. Additionally, only 11% of survey respondents said that women should make the first move on a dating app. This is both surprising and totally predictable, says Jessica Small, a marriage counselor and therapist at Growing Self Counseling & Coaching in Denver. It depends on what phase of dating the couple is in.
Research by Harvard University examined the role of asking questions in interpersonal relationships. They also found the order of the questions you ask has a significant effect on how others respond. But what is it that makes a person likable? The research examined the role of asking questions in interpersonal relationships. In the online chats, the people randomly assigned to ask many questions were better liked by their conversation partners.
Hinge rolled out a new pricier subscription tier that will cost $50 a month, or $600 annually. The new level will offer premium capabilities to boost premium subscribers' exposure on the app. Another Match-owned dating app, Tinder, is testing a $500-per-month membership, though it is unclear what it will offer. For example, subscribers to the new premium tier will have their profiles and likes boosted so they are seen sooner by other users. The company also offers a free version of its dating app that allows up to 8 profile likes per day.
BRUSSELS, Feb 14 (Reuters) - In dating, they say there are plenty more fish in the sea. For 1,363 speed daters meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, the bigger the sea, the better the chances of catching something. Organiser Dare to Date billed the Valentine's Day event as the world's biggest ever speed date, saying it smashed the previous record of 964 participants set in Dublin, Ireland, in 2019. "Speed dating is really cool because there are so many different people and they're maybe people we wouldn't have said 'yes' to on Tinder." Dare to Date event manager Jill de Graaf said it was time to reclaim Valentine's Day for singles.
